Chromebook Love!

Rich F. is presenting to the Board tonight and asked for feedback he can share about our implementation of 1:1 Chromebooks this year. Here is what I gave him: "With Chromebooks, there is virtually no transition time between activities that involve technology and those that do not. I can show students how to use databases for research and then have students immediately open their Chromebooks and get started. There is no wait time. The Chromebooks come on immediately and they are already logged in. What a giant leap forward from the days when the whole class had to move to a computer lab in order to use technology!"

Here is our cart of 30 Chromebooks to lend to students for the day. Students will borrow one if they left theirs at home, or if theirs needs a charge but they can't wait. We also lend chargers on a daily basis. So far, the system is working. The few students who don't return Chromebooks get put on a list. After the third time of not returning, they are banned from borrowing for a month. I've only had to ban one person. He started borrowing again and now he never forgets!
